    Default replaced the thermoswitch-but-fan still...

I replaced the thermoswitch yesterday, but the fan still did not kick on as the temp gauge moved 3/4 way to Hot.
When I used the paper clip to test again, this time the fan wouldn't come on, but I heard a clicking sound from the big fuse box on the passenger side engine compartment. I pulled the big black fuse from the box, and tested again, and the clicking had stopped.
Also, when I turn on the a/c, the radiator fan started also,, which it did not use to do before I replaced the thermoswitch. Do I just need to replace that big black fuse?
    any ideas?
    thanks.

Put the big black fuse back and do you get the clicking noise?

The clicking is a relay that turns the fan on. So it could be the relay or the fan.

I get the clicking noise when the fuse is in...but not when the fuse is out. Does that make sense?
    thanks.

It does but the fuse only controls the flow of power.

So no fuse no power therefore no power = no click.

Put the fuse back and you get a click so power = click

Now you need to figure out if it is the relay or the fan.

Use a multi-meter and check the power at the cooling fan connector with the AC turned on. If you're getting voltage at the connector, it has to be the fan's fault. If so, repair it or replace it. If you determine it's the fan and decide to try repairing it, see my blog post about how I repaired mine. It might helpl.

    Regards.

It does on the NAs as well. I was asking to see if just his A/C fan came on, or both of them when the A/C was turned on.

One fan is the primary cooling fan the other is comes on when the A/C system is running. With the A/C on both fans should run.

    Fan motor.

See if you can swap the fan connectors and if the problem follows.
EDIT - The connectors might be different, can't remember for sure.

The Fan is being intermittent it has been working for about 20 years in your car maybe it just wants to retire.....

It is not an uncommon failure.

Do you have a meter?? (I think this has been asked before)

Check to see if you have voltage at the fan motor connector.
