Thread: Venue updates for 9/30 and 11/17 NTAXS autocross events

Default Venue updates for 9/30 and 11/17 NTAXS autocross events

As some of you might already be aware, the HEB School District increased their insurance requirements for hosting an autocross at Pennington Field. Neither the NTXAS nor Equipe Rapide (ER) hold insurance policies that meet the new requirements, and it would not be cost effective for either club to obtain the necessary insurance. The SCCA, BMW CCA, and PCA all have nationwide insurance plans meet the new requirements, so it is possible for them to still hold events there.

This means that we have change the venue of our 9/30/12 event from Pennington Field to West Mesquite Memorial Stadium.

In regards to our 11/17/12 event that did not previously have a venue, I have reserved Mineral Wells Airport for this event.

I guess the ISD is effectively pricing themselves out of the autocross market.

I kinda got the feeling that this is what they were trying to do by complaining about noise and all that bs.
It's sad to see that we won't race at Pennington again which is one of my personal favorite but we will always have MW...hopefully!

NTAXS event #6 has been changed from Saturday 11/17 to Sunday 11/18. The venue has changed from Mineral Wells Airport to Dallas Raceway in Crandall.

Actually, it's HEB's Risk Management dept. We live in a time of lawsuit happy lawyers & site owners (and School BOD's) that cringe at the thought of having any incident at all. The same situation is happening all over the country to autocross venues!

Texas Motor Speedway's insurance requirements are just as high but at least the management there works with some of the smaller marque clubs.

SCCA's liability insurance cost per entrant is rediculously high compared to the other autocross club's insurance. On top of that, SCCA Regions have to pay a per entrant "Sanction Fee" to the National office.

I agree wholeheartedly - demand is generated by clients. Reduce supply and my billable rate rises :)

If I can ride a bicycle in the Nevada sun for 10 hours, driving the chumpcar around a track for a couple should be no big deal.

Was the change to Sunday due to site availability or is NTAXS shifting to Sundays?

Is Dallas Raceway ever available on Saturdays?

Site availability. I think they are pretty busy on Saturdays with drag racing. Well, that and we wanted to keep Sammmy away.

So let's just mess with a proven formula.

    What could possibly go wrong??

Yeah, gosh darn lawyers. The last thing we need are more of them...

We will continue to prefer Saturdays, but some events will just have to be on Sundays because of various constraints.
