Thread: Grinding off welds?

  1. #1

    Question Grinding off welds?

What's the best way to grind off a weld?

Perhaps just a grinding wheel and a drill or is there a better way?

I'm in the process of building an aluminium dash for the BUR... and I'm using the bar behind the dash as the base. However, I need to remove some of the extra dash support bars.

You'll go to any length to lose weight on the BUR won't you?

Yup. Plus it's kind of a neat project. The dash is out of the car and the wiring is minimized... now I just have to remove those extra supports.

Those two vertical bars on the passenger side... and there are a couple more pieces to come out on the driver's side.

Just grind the spot weld off, from what I can see it doesn't look like a lot of weld on it.

So let's see a picture of the replacement dash!

I'll be cutting it out of cardboard and then moving that template over to a sheet of aluminium. I hope to have it done in the next month or so...
