I regret never getting to experience it.
+1 Mike...would've liked to have experienced that.
I know you guys probably hate it when I do this, but here goes. I did (and still do) much of the marketing for the Milw. Region SCCA events. On an annual basis we bring in $5,000 in sponsor monies for the club. This subsidizes a LOT of equipment, rental and operating fees. I have been trying to do this in Texas, but with less success, probably because I am not a long standing member of the community.
rpmchris is leveraging his relationship with Genghis to sponsor an event or a party. I have dent removal company who is willing to sponsor an event which I need to get to the finish line as well. I have talked to about a dozen companies so far this year, but I need help. All of you know a company who could benefit from being able to directly market to a group of people who WILL spend money on their cars. Think alignment, tires, detailing, service, batteries, car dealers, etcetera. Each us probably spends $1,000 a year. Multiply this by 100 or so participants, and this is a lot of potential revenue in exchange for a $350 sponsor fee. Any service business is actually a good prospect.
I will run down any lead you provide me, for any of the clubs, and try to bring them in. All I ask for is a "warm" introduction, and I will try and get them involved.
If we had $2,500 per club in sponsor dollars, we would probably not be having the conversation about raising entry fees.
I've seen other lots at TMS that look very useable and very sizable. I've always wondered why we don't run on those more often.
Also, with the economic decline of late. I have to believe there are more available industrial/warehouse lots that are no longer stocked with gods. Some of those I've seen on google maps are huge.
lol wow.
Good thing your day jobs aren't at the improv Mikey and KB
Thats against the law you know.....
Looking at ER website, it sounds like we are going to enforce the sound limit. Is this correct?
That's my understanding, but I will bring it up at the board meeting tonight.
The forecast for Sunday looks like mid-60s, partly cloudy, and a little windy. It should be a nice day. I have never been to this site, but it will at least be exciting trying some place new. Looks like there's a McDonalds next door, so I would be up for meeting there. I might even have the wife talked into racing at this event.
It's the first event of the regular DFW season, so come on out.
I'm so there!
Sound policy is in effect. If you go over 100dBa twice you will be asked to leave.
Thanks,
Think I'm gonna have to swap back to stock for the event, at least then I can get a baseline to see how much louder the new exhaust can be.
Here is the planned course map:
Where is the sound check so I know when to lift
J/K will have my stock exhaust back on!
Leilane is signed up, too!
On a lot this size, sound meter location really won't matter! :)
So, your saying size doesn't matter???????
Only when you're talking about small things.

Online registration closes at midnight tonight. Registration is open on site from 8-9 Sunday morning.
We're getting a lot of first timers who are attempting to navigate AXWare. There are a few rules to entering an ER event.
#1. You must enter the Challenge Cup first. You may not enter your "R" car in the Rapide PAX unless you have already entered your non "R" car in the Challenge Cup. I have edited all the offender's entries so that there are no Rapide PAX entries that don't also have a Challenge Cup entry. That means that I changed your car from having an "R" into not having an "R". If I changed you and you are a novice (N), on street tires (T other than ST classes), or Xpert(X) then you will need to email me at [email protected] and I'll make that change.
#2. You cannot be in Novice (N) class if you run race rubber. Race Rubber are Hoosier A6, Kumho V700/V710, or slicks. Novices must run street tires as defined in the rules.
#3. Some folks didn't choose a class so I dropped you in your associated Stock class. If your car isn't stock then you need to change it. You are responsible for being in the correct class.
It's going to be a great event.
Thanks,
If someone has a classing question, you can speak to one of the ER board members (Yellow T-shirts) when you arrive, or just talk to the tech people.
I'm in for the McDonalds, 7am?
So I got changed into STS...what's the difference between that and Rapide PAX? Do you get more runs doing both (like I see Jerrett is in RPAX and X)?
ER runs with a format that gives everyone a standard number of runs for points, typically 4. There is a separate event-within-the-event called Rapid Pax, wherein you pay an additional $10 for 2 runs that are taken at the end of your regular runs. Entrants in the Rapid Pax are competing against each other based on a PAX index, which adjusts everyones raw time based on your car's theoretical potential in its class. The top times are awarded cash prizes from the pot. Many drivers simply treat it as $10 for extra seat time.
Your class for the regular runs is probably STS (based on your mods). If you are a novice, you add an "N" to your class to become NSTS and you are only competing against other novices. Same thing for expert class (X), ladies (L), tire class (T), etc. Most classes are called "open" classes, and don't have a prefix. They only compete against cars in the same class. Simple, right?
In your case, STS is an open class for certain mildly-modded 2-seater cars, but is part of a group of classes called Street Touring which cannot run R-comp tires (<140 wear rating). This is different than the "tire" class, but that's another story.
If you consider yourself a novice, then you'd run as NSTS for your first 4 runs, then remove the N and replace with an R (assuming you paid the extra $10) and take your final two runs. Those runs do not count for the points competition, but are for the Rapid Pax only.
That is why you see drivers with multiple registrations. Jerrett will run in the expert (X) class, then again in Rapid Pax (R).
Then there is amortization...
If you didn't pay the extra $10 for Rapide Pax online, then just pay when you get there. The two runs are worth $10, and there is a chance to win that back and more. Once you win money, then you'll be a professional driver. When the wife/GF complains about your driving, you can tell her that you're a professional driver.
Don't forget my tools. I'll see you there at 7:45 to help with tires. Or, just meet us at McDonalds at 7 AM. It's on Scyene on the north end of the venue.
Or when you wife wins money you can let her buy the beer..... With luck she will enjoy that and you can slowly transition her up to buying tires and towing the car..... Just don't push it too far and think that autocross will suddenly cause her to gain cooking skills.....
Well, I loaned my wife my miata on friday and the ECU fuse keeps popping, so I may need a co-drive if I can't find the cause today.
Good course.
Hope they will use the other lot for the course at the event next month.
