Some things are best left to the professionals. They even have better quality tint that doesn't look so dang purple. ;)
I have tint, but I did not do it myself. The sides probably arent very hard, except for the triangle windows. But the back glass is a pain in the ass, because of the defrost connectors.
I'd say leave it to the professionals, and find a good shop. I can't imagine that anybody would charge more than $75 to tint a Miata. Plus, that would include stuff like a warranty.

Let's have a tech day. I'm sure that we'd do a bang-up job on window tint. It goes on the outside, right?
OK... don't say I didn't warn you about letting Titus near your windshield...
There are times when it doesn't pay to be a CB. This is one of them.
I have limo tint on my miata. Yes, it's illegal. I like the privacy of the dark tint. Individuals pull up next to me at traffic lights and they can't see me. I don't have stupid people wanting to race me anymore, either. Go figure.
It's cost me 1 time so far, :punchout: but I have gotten pulled over a few times since I've had the tint and cops don't generally notice. I recommend rolling your windows down when the weather is nice, obviously.
I had my "triangle windows" and the door windows done for $40 with high end metallic tint that isn't supposed to fade for 9 years or something. The guy that tinted my windows has tinted windshields before, but he doesn't recommend it.
Forget tint just use aluminum foil, it'll block all the sunlight and look very classy. Don't be a :cat:
dang aalvarez you stole my idea :(
I've always been a fan of rustoleum. Remember- several thin coats will help you avoid the runs.

Have you considered the limo option for your Miata?

I had a friend(yes, it's hard to believe) that used to tint windows for a living. He made all of the cuts on the outside of the vehicle and then used the pieces to tint the inside. He used a ever so slightly soapy water to adhere the tint to the window. It also gave him enough time to move it around a little. Rear windows with contours, he used a heat gun to form the tint. Very tricky to keep from overheating the tint.
I have a 4" tall tint strip on my windshield. It is low enough to block out the glare of the sun so that I never have to use those worthless visors. I used 35% tint for that strip. A cassette tape case works wonderfully for tracing the contour of the windshield.
it always looks easy when someone else is doing it ... haha
