My mom has worked for Reliant Energy (Old HL&P) for 22 years and has been on me to switch electric companies to save money. My uncle up until last year worked for TXU as well so I have a bunch of educated folks on the power scene.
Well the move from a 700 sq ft apartment to a 2600 sq ft home got me off my duff.
I switched from TXU to Spark and went from .147 per KW hr to .113 per KW hr.
Plus I dont have to join a pyramid scheme cult to sell to my friends, family and co-workers.
I saw a 25% reduction, plus I locked in the cost per KW hr for 2 years.
Like my mom says... deregulation was setup to benefit people but when the power industry in Texas. However no one is switching... well not the type of results law makers were expecting.
For me and my new house it means savings of ~$800 per year. Its nothing to sneeze at!

I see where they say that liquid lithium-6 will be used as a neutron dampener/absorber, but the article does not mention what the fissionable material is being used. I am doubt it will be enriched uranium, that would be a little too expensive. I wonder if this is a scaled down pebble bed reactor. The article does say that the reactor does not used control rods, But it does say if the fissionable material is rod form or pebble form.
I wouldn't mind one to power my space ship with... light speed here we come!
