Believe it or not, I prefer the picture of the 996 interior, though I consider both to be a little too "busy", particularly around the stereo/climate control area, and both have leather seats and I prefer cloth. I also love how the 996 puts the tach front and center. I don't really see anything wrong with the 996 steering wheel except for the the fact hat it looks like the airbag was attached as an afterthought.

Although, is that an automatic transmission in the 996? Isn't an automatic transmission in a 911 a minor sin?

You can get cloth centered seats in the M3. It's really a great car for daily driving and ripping up the track at a DE. Plus the back seat really is usable.

I'd have a hard time choosing between a E46M3 and a 135. Even though the 135/335 TT engine is very nice. I think I like the feel of the NA inline 6. Plus the sound is fantastic.

No, its not a minor sin, its a major sin. You are automatically blocked from entering heaven if you purchase an automatic Porsche. Best you can hope for at that point is purgatory... eternity driving a rusted out Yugo and listening to 1930'2 cowboy jodeling songs from an AM radio.

And no, that's not an automatic. I would not buy, own, or drive an automatic Porsche... what would be the point?

I'll probably end up buying the 135i, because while a 911 has been a "dream car" of mine, I also really like BMWs. I'm also almost certain to wait until the Dallas Auto Show (http://www.dallasautoshow.com/) in April to do anything, as I'm going to want to see and sit in a bunch of different vehicles. Then I'll narrow my choices to 3 or 4 and go for test drives.

I daily drive a Miata, I think I would consider a Porsche to be a daily driver :)

For that matter, if I had the money, I would daily drive a Lotus Exige.
