    Addison, TX 75001
    (972) 239-9096

Lunch is free to all paid members of LSMC and spouse, (see website for downloadable membership app).

This is a really big year for LSMC. We will playing host to the Texas Miata Roundup in Fredericksburg October 23-26th, 2008. This will be a Moab style event. No registration fees, no limit on cars. We're expecting cars from TX, OK, LA, and NM... maybe a couple of AZ and CA. Hotel & food on your own, (maybe a pizza party poolside at the Fredericksburg Inn. Registration will open via the LSMC website in March.

AND... planning is well under way for the MX-5 MiataWorld II event at the Gaylord Texan in May of 2009. This is going to be a huge party. Mazda has said that there is no limit to the attendance, to the MAX the hotel can handle in a single room, (4,030 people). There will be a car given away to registered attendees, there will be an indoor vendor's alley (30,000 sq ft). We have secured TMS for the road course, the oval, and auto-X in the parking lot. Mazda Motorsports has promised an MX-5 Cup race at either Eagles Canyon or MSR during the event.

Lunch is at noon, with the election to follow. We will also set up operating committees for the Roundup and MW II after the election.

Positions (see the Officer Duties page for information on each position) up for elections are:

    President
    Vice President
    Treasurer
    Secretary
    Membership
    Newsletter Editor

Nominations will be taken from the floor at the meeting.

See the menu open to members (choice of one):

Lasagna Classico - layers of pasta, meat sauce and ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan and romano cheeses

Chicken Parmigiana - lightly breaded breasts of chicken, fried and topped with marinara sauce, mozarella and parmeasan; served with spaghetti

Fettuccine Alfredo - parmesan crean sauce with a hint of garlic, served over fettuccine

Spaghetti & Meatballs - traditional meat sauce over spaghetti with meatballs

Linguine alla Marinara - pasta with a zesty blend of ripe tomatoes, onions and herbs

So basically you buy a dinner for two and get a free membership? Tempting....

I think it might be a good time to give LSMC a try again and bring a new dynamic to the club. As Bill said, the MWII planning is coming up and with this being billed as the Miata Event to end all Miata events, it would be nice to have a hand in making it happen. With our diverse experience in Miata Performance Events, we could make a real impact in making this an even better event.

Many of you have never been in a Miata Club and there are real benefits to one. Planned events, national recognition, camaraderie with a diverse group of fellow enthusiasts, etc... The DFW area is long overdue for a cohesive Miata presence.

One suggestion though and I know it will require revising the bylaws but how about a Performance Event Coordinator and a Fun Events Coordinator? These would be people directly responsible for announcing and in some cases, organizing specific events. This would bring more of a performance spin to LSMC and I that can only help the club.

Bill, I am going to try and encourage more participation and involvement. Your offer is a great opportunity to bring everyone together and I applaud your effort.
    ...and across the line.

No change to the Bylaws... not an elected office. We have several "volunteer" positions now, this could, and should, be one.

Come to the meeting, make the motion, and I guarantee it will pass.

I will be looking for entertainment later on... probably in the fall of '08. Big name for the banquet, (talking to the Beach Boys), but will also be thinking about one other dinner and the opening night reception.

Jay Leno has been invited. His assistant replied that he would like to attend, but it's too far off to commit. Should hear something by March of '09.

U2 is busy, and WAY out of my price range.

What about Pat Travers?, i shared a stage with him, Simon Wright (drummer AC/DC) and Greg T. Walker (Bassist for Blackfoot) and what a show that was!!!!
All these guys are just getting better with age and rock!

They played point After north in Flower Mound so it shouldn't be out of the price range.....just a suggestion.

Thanks again for the invite Bill. There really are some nice folks in the club. Several folks said they were glad to have me back. The planning for MWII is going to be huge and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.

I also had a few requests for more young people. The "old farts" (their term not mine) want to see more young folks participate and also many of them want performance driving events as well.

I think LSMC is long over due for another try. My impression is they are open to change and expansion. I feel there are real benefits to an organized club and it provides for more opportunities for a variety of fun with our cars.

Lately it seems, outside of AutoX, all we do is get together, eat and talk about cars. Guess what LSMC does? Some of those older guys are cool too. Many of them have a long history of owning and driving some great cars in the past.

I would encourage folks to participate in LSMC events or even invite LSMC folks to our events. When it all comes down to it, we all have one great thing in common.

Hey, I like to eat too! :p

I had planned to go to the meeting but had to make a choice.
Vintage Drag races or Lunch with LSMC and William.
I went to the races, and it was awesome.
Maybe somthing to look into for MWII?

Thanks William... it was very good to see you, and your lovely wife, (you did well for yourself).

The biggest thing that LSMC does is that we do at least 2 drives each month, and usually more. These are usually spirited drives, over Miata friendly roads, and we end up at someplace interesting, (usually car related), or someplace fun. We also do an over night most every month. In addition, we have groups going to regional events in ERureka Springs, AR, Breckenridge, CO, Charleston, SC, and Deal's Gap this year. Not to mention the Texas Miata Roundup '08 in Fredericksburg in October, (LSMC is host). More info will be coming in April.

Next up is our "First Sunday Run" for March. March 2nd, down around Granbury and Glen Rose, we'll end up at Loco Coyote. Great BBQ and a fun place. After, more sprirted driving back to the metromess. Consider this an invite.

See the LSMC website and/or Forum for more info... should be posted in the next couple of days.

I'm not familiar with the LSMC, but at 40+, where do I fall? Old Fart, or Youth? haha.

My son and I may join you guys for your fun run March 2, sound like fun, and we'd bring 2 miatas.

"Old fart" is a state of mind. I'm 54 and still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Most of the members fall into that category. Most drive like that, too. Those that don't, tend not to come back.

The club is a mixed bag demographically. Not many 20 somethings, a few in their 30's. Most fall in the 40-50's, most have a few disposable dollars to spend on having fun.

Some retirees, and they are the most fun. Always available for a run or a trip.

    See you Sunday.

So, when are you and Barbara coming out to play? Sunday will be a good run, long enough to be fun, without killing the whole day. Not sure on the start time, but I'm guessing 10:30-11:00. 3-4 hours for the drive & lunch.
