Thread: Best Place To Get A TPS?

Default Best Place To Get A TPS?

I tried buying one from O'RLY and they gave me one that didn't fit. When I returned it, the guy there said that was the only one they had in the computer. Should I try Auto Zone? Pep Boys? Or is there a better place to get one online?

What's a TPS? If it's a Mazda OEM part, try a Mazda dealer or Trussville Mazda on the web.

    Throttle Position Sensor?

Make sure you put a coversheet on the report.

Ha! Not a TPS report, just the throttle position sensor, aka "boost sensor". I understand it regulates how fast the car goes based on how far down the pedal is pushed. I just know it's been causing my engine light to be on for the last several years and I'm fed up with it.

    I'll try a Mazda dealer.

Yeah if you can wait one of the miata.net mazda dealer sponsors is a safe bet for the best price.

    Default Epilogue

It turned out that O'Reilley had given me the correct part, and I was trying to replace the wrong one. Of course the boost sensor and throttle sensor don't fit the same places...

Oh well, the CEL is off now, and I'm happy.

Incidentally, aren't boost sensors only necessary for cars with turbo? Did any of the NBs have turbo as an option or anything?

Mine's a 1999, and I'm fairly sure it doesn't have turbo. Is the boost sensor used for something else?

I believe its a vacuum type sensor. Common component "EGR boost sensor".
