Thread: Miatas Increasing in Value?

    Default Miatas Increasing in Value?

It seems there are fewer Miatas for sale and the prices have increased $1,000 to $2,000 more than they were just a few months ago. I looked at a 1990 a couple of weeks ago, and the guy wanted double what KBB and Edmunds listed for the car in "excellent" condition (this one was NOT in excellent condition; 4 inch hole in top and dented front fender). I may repaint mine one day if the value continues to increase.
    1990 White NA - SOLD
    1994 Black NA - SOLD
2006 Red NC - GT with limited slip, HIDs, all OEM.

And gas prices have helped increase the value of cars that get good gas mileage.

enough people think they get superior mpg to affect the price. I just bought another miata 2 months ago, and the market was totally different from when I bought the green car 2 years ago. Back then I could get a hard top for $600, now it seems $900 is the reality.

Plus they aren't making anymore NA's and people that wanted one are now able to afford one.

I know... a few months ago, the Miata was the fuel efficient vehicle in my fleet... Now it doesn't get appreciably better mileage than the other 4 wheeled vehicles at our house. Funny how perception can change with time...

    • rx-8 - 20.2 mpg
    • dodge - 21.3 mpg (but $4.74/gal!)
    • miata - 25.3 mpg
    • sv - 52.7 mpg

Yeah, I am feeling that pain too.

But 21 is still better then the 14 MPG I get in the Jeep. Even with the price difference between gas and Diesel.

Now once we get MK her new car. Then the Miata is mine. HEHEHEHEHEHEEH!!!

It depends wildly on the driving mix. On my 2006 I get ~22mpg pure city driving (by pure city I mean not even touching anything resembling a highway, all stop and go traffic lights) but will get 30mpg easy going on the highway.

23 driving it normally, 28mpg driving it like a grandma. It will be replaced shortly by something that gets slightly better mpg with a lot more power.

Also, I did read an article recently that said all convertibles across the board are holding their value well and are selling for more lately. But that was before the economy went all wobbly. Sorry, no link, I can't even remember where I read it.

Nice, I would've thought all those participant ribbons would be weighing you down to only a 24 mpg tank
