Thread: WTB Front Lip

sxk112 he didn't mean you specifically he meant you generally. That depends, do you want the rear lip? It's not required at all and I'm sure plenty of people have just the front I actually prefer how BR has his OEM mudflaps with the Home Depot rear lip to the OEM rear lip.

Yeah I just have the front lip. As I understand it, the rear lips were/are very hard to come by - not something you could pick up from the dealer, unlike the front lip. IMHO, an NA looks somehow incomplete without the front lip (I thought mine was missing a piece when I first got it). Not only that, I'll swear that the front end feels more planted above 80mph with the lip. The rear lip looks cool, but I could take it or leave it.

Yep, the front lips do have an effect on down force, how much or whether or not it is noticeable is up to your opinion but they were designed to add down force to the front wheels.

I'm in the take it or leave it boat on the rear.... leaning towards leave it.
I know they are sold seperatly, but If i get talked into it, I'll buy it now rather than later. $149 is a steal.

As for damaging the lip, I'm used to driving a lowered car with a bodykit; I'm pretty good about not scraping or bumping..... Pic of BR's tail?

    (that sounds dirty....)

Couldn't find any, but it's basically just your standard home depot lip but it is trimmed to flow with the mudflaps very well.

The biggest problem with how this one is done is the way it just stops abruptly at the ends, trimming them to flow into the mudflaps eliminates that problem. Also I think they look best on a black car, which is why it would be my choice for a rear lip.

hmm..... i think i like the tail naked.

    Naked rear for the win....

The R speed rear lip leaves something lacking..... doesn't flow on the back as well as on the front.

I sure am glad there are pix in this thread, because with all the talk of lips and naked rears one might start to wonder about you two...

They're cheaper at Mazda Motorsports and you don't have to depend on a group buy.

Hey there's no way to get around calling them lips, I didn't say naked, that's just silly .

    ????

I already signed up for the group buy on this one, $149 w/ free shipping but for curiosity, what is the Mazda Motorsport cost... and I haven't run an event in the miata yet, isn't that a prerequisite?

Did you ever notice that Trickyrix manages to turn every discussion into a gay inuendo? I'm just saying...,..I don't mean that in a bad way.

I did! He's always the first to take it there. (that one is too easy)

Sxk112 if you think BR's would look bad then that kinda makes your decision for you about the rear lip because the OEM one wouldn't look too different so I would say go without the rear.

In other news, the irony Gods have struck me down again... I scraped my Ratsback lip up pretty bad backing out of BR's neighbors driveway and it was one of the most gradual driveways I've ever seen, I dont understand it. It looks like I will be in this for this freaking GB if I have the money after I get back from Laguna.

P.S. Thanks again for the hub Will, I'm forever in your debt. And so is Guinness for the dog food.

John, get in the habit of taking ANY incline at an angle. Hit any incline (driveways, dips, speedbumps) at a 45° angle. In the zx2 and NEVER scraped the front or rear in over 2 years, and I promise you it is lower than your miata.
