In a couple weeks i am going to pick up a 1973 Chevy Cheyenne Super pickup.
It needs a new tranny a set of rims and tires, but the 454 engine is good and for $350.00 i couldn't pass it up.
Pics to come.

As much as I like GM you Miata probebly makes more power than a 1973 454. I am sure it will come in handly to carry stuf you can't get into a Miata.
Congrats!! That is a great deal. I am a huge fan of the older Chevy trucks. I hope to buy a 1971 long wheel base and restore the body to original, but put a newer suspension under it. It will be one of those things I work on for years...

No, a 71-87 disk frontend fits 63-87 so that is bolt in with 6 bolts.
a '71 is coil spring rearend so it rides great.
This is easier than you think, and back then trucks were trucks.
All you have to address is stopping this rig, which disk do.
Disk brakes are 5 lug and drums are 6 lug.
So Billy, who's going to fix it up? If I recall correctly you aren't really into wrenching on your car. Are you going to rebuild that tranny or replace it? Is it an Auto or Manual? I hate Auto Tranny's they seem to be a pita to get rebuilt right.

I can wrench, it's my hip that keeps me paying for work.
I am not an engine rebuilder by any means but can handle quite a bit on my own.
In this case i have a friend that works on old Chevy's
This one is a 400 turbo automatic, I will probably buy a junker to replace it with.

I too would like to pickup an older heavy hauler. I'm planing on buying a 24-28' Boat (weekender) in the next year or so and will need something to haul it with. Since it won't be a daily, and only used to haul the boat, I'll be looking for a 10+ year old truck.
