Thread: NC CSP car

    Default NC CSP car

How would you build a CSP car for AX and track? (Assuming I fit).
    Where to source:
    Seats?
    Rollbar?
    Hardtop?
    Suspension?
    Wheels?
    Tires?

I don't know about the rest, but the wheel/tire package on RPMChris's car is hot. Its got a good stance also. Maybe he can chime in. . .

    EDIT: quoted from his profile: Mazdaspeed springs/sways (RX-8 front bar)/FSTB; Koni Sport adjustable shocks; 17x7.5" ET48 Enkei RPF1 wheels & 235/40ZR17 Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires (on the street); 17x9" ET45 Enkei RPF1 wheels & 245/40ZR17 BFGoodrich R1 tires (on the track); Mazdaspeed LSD, CAI & exhaust;

get hold of Andy Hollis, PM me if you don't have his info

he has contact info for Jim Daniels who ran CSP the last two years at Nats in an NC, and trophied

compare what RPMChris has to say with his input

I would start with giant expensive tires.

    Thumbs up

All you need to be divisionally competitive:
    18x9.5 -10.5 wheels
285 V710s or A6s (roll the !@#$ out of the fenders)
    Good coilovers
Big front sway bar (possibly Hotchkis) and a slightly larger rear bar
    Intake, header, exhaust

Nationally competitive (start thinking about these things):
    Race buckets
    Lightweight flywheel and clutch
Sniper tune (or other ECU flash if somebody has one)
pull AC (could probably keep it if you want)
Mazdaspeed clutch diff to replace the Torsen (does OS Giken have a diff for the NC???)

You could also be the first person to run IRTBs on an NC. That would be cool!

There are not really any good rollbar options due to the softtop design, but Good-Win-Racing has some that would probably work for track days.

The NC is a fantastic car. I'd love to build a CSP car out of mine, but I'm really holding out for STX2 if that ever happens.

One big problem - the factory rollover protection is very short. Adding a roll bar will put you at a disadvantage in CSP (extra weight), so if you want to track it as well your helmet will be the highest point in the car in event of a rollover.

What spring rates is RPMCHRIS running these days?
What's left of a '96 Miata with stock clutch.
