Wrecking yards are your friend, even for tires. I just bought a set of practically brand new 17" tires for my '08 for $150.00 Not to mention all the AC parts you can pickup.
Although that is logically and financially true, it is not when it comes to getting approved for a mortgage. I know quite a few people, my parents just a few weeks ago included, that were specifically TOLD by their mortgage people that the easiest way to bring your credit up (or get credit to begin with) is with on-time payments of a car loan for at least a few months before you even bother mortgage shopping. Of course that's if you have little to no credit: If you have good credit, it won't make a difference. Just know that your credit will go to complete crap for a few months after you close on a house...so keep that in mind if/when you decide to get a loan/account for anything (vehicle, new mattress, TV, etc etc)

'08 Copper Red GT PRHT, '06 Accord EXL, '05 Dodge Magnum R/T, '01 V8 Dakota for pulling 2135 Chaparral.
My credit is okay, but like I said I've never been in debt so that could be an issue.
The Miata is about to head to Rogue to get the AC and PS looked at![]()
I'll probably get new tires for the Miata since I like my Azenis so much... they've lasted surprisingly long considering my drivingAs for the van, I'll only get them if absolutely necessary since I need to sell it in the fall (and possibly before, depending on my work future).
Thanks guys, I'm keeping the Miata for now. Now all I need to worry about is getting the van in acceptable condition to sell...
09 Lexus RX350
.... no Miata
As long as your credit is there and good, you should be fine. The people I know that were told to get auto loans either had zero credit at all or are recovering from a bankruptcy or other credit-killing situation.
And for what it's worth, I can't recommend Sean Severide at Cornerstone Mortgage enough.
