FWIW, every club in the metroplex is run by volunteers and most have results up the same day of the event.

So the Time Trials use the same course for every event?

This sounds like a freakin' blast! I'm going to have to see if I can finagle work...

They rotate through 3 course designs. You will get faster each time you go out.

If it were any more fun it would be illegal in 42 states.

Mitch - I understand your position, but I already volunteer my time with more than one club. No disrepect, but telling people that they need to volunteer in order to find-out their times (they weren't posted on-site either) is absurd. We paid an entry fee and did a work assignment; times should be posted.

I will not do extra work to find-out my times. This is a very dissapointing postition for a club as long-established as PCA to take.

It is. I kicked myself for waiting so long to try it. I really do not know why more people do not go to these things.

I don't think Mitch is saying you should volunteer to find out... I think he is just saying to cut them some slack since they are and that they don't have somebody that can/will post times online at this point.

I honestly don't care if they post times. I imagine that the volunteers working also have the same stance hence the lack of posting. I like to know what my times are and I've always been able to find that out at the event.... Just have to go look at sheet.

Good point. That's cool, but I will not run any more PCA events, so everyone will be happy.

The PCA events are a lot of fun, and I appreciate them letting any car show up and the hard work that it takes to put them on. But I have to agree with OZMDD we are into June and we have no results posted for the year? I know that PCA breaks down the results in a lot of ways, but if we could just get the times without the break down that would make people happy. I will continue to do PCA events, but getting results posted in a timely manner would only help turn out. I do like to analyze my results run to run and my times compared to some of the fast drivers which is hard to do at the event or if it takes too long for the posted results because I no longer remember the event.

We are not trying to beat anyone up just letting people know where they can improve.

Just a PDF of the results posted here would make me happy. Really results posted in a timely manner does not seem like to much to ask.

Just FYI guys...maybe this will make it easier to understand. There is a retired Engineer named Charlie that used to handle all the times posting and drove that white "Truxster". He is in such poor health now that he has quit doing any of that stuff. It was Charlie that did all the statical analysis that you mentioned...because he loved doing that kind of crunching. No one else either wants to do it, has access to do it, or cares. The basic times are posted in the Porsche region newsletter. They are also having a BIG problem with finding someone to drive the Truxster to the events (can't drive your racer) and store the big thing. Charlie hadn't drive in an event in about a decade. But he liked the people and took care of it all. He could be very hard-headed about rules, but he is being severely missed.

Your suggestion about getting SOMETHING that could be uploaded to this site is a very good one. If someone with the admin of this site can confirm I can do that, then I'll request to be sent the data and see if they'll trust this Porsche member driving the wrong car with the data...and upload it if possible.

I'm sure there will be others running the events that won't benefit, but I am motivated to get Miatas out there...so I'll try.

    Maniac Mitch.

For only $12.50 a year, any forum member can attach a document (jpg, pdf, etc) to a thread.

is there not an common area for this kind of stuff??? That won't cost *ME* $12.50 a year to help everyone else out???

PS....I requested just the X classes info because I feel they will free that up easier than the whole thing with all the Porsche member car info. So be sure to register in an X class...which is where you should land anyway. Sorry I don't know the SCCA equivalents... but AFAIK, Miatas fall in 2X, 3X, or 4X based on modifications. I was in 4X, and now will be in 3X...I think, I have a 95 with suspension mods. Surely someone knows what each generation Miata gets in.

What kind of cars are allowed? My neighbor has a formula ford, is that ok?

thanks...I guess I'll worry about how to do it once I get the times. No word as of yet.

I guess the Formula Ford could run...but not sure. Haven't seen anything like that in a lot of years. The only requirement I can remember was 4 wheels (no motorcycles), but I haven't seen any shifter carts either. I believe TXCoyote can run his SuperStalker, but it is licensed for the street. I see trailered full race cars running all the time...more like the Formula Ford. Seems it would be ok...but I haven't been on the rules committee in about 8 years.

I would suggest he get on the Mav website, and under contacts, find Travis and email him with that question...to be sure before coming out. It would be neat to see it run.

If he tries it...please post the resulting answer...I'd like to know also now.

I'd be surprised if it couldn't run. If it passes tech, it runs is the way I see it. The owner signs the waiver, no risk to the club. I ran my full race RX7 last time no problems.
