So, you are saying you have the same effect on peeps IRL? Shocking.
In between classes waiting for the professor to arrive, normally I see 20-30 students sitting in class waiting for 30 minutes to an hour. Throughout 4 classes of these 18-60 year olds, I will sit in there with them and for the entire duration waiting for the professor, they will not say a single word. It's as if they are all zombies. They aren't studying or doing work, they are sitting there waiting, occasionally checking their phone and maybe sending a text message, but other than that they will sit there and not say a word. 30 students in a classroom for an hour with no speaking at all.
Have I lost my mind thinking that conversation is a given? Is this how humans are supposed to act?![]()

Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual. But now I know why I have always lost women to guys like you. I mean, it's not just the uniform. It's the stories that you tell. So much fun and imagination.
It was just something that started bothering me so I figured I'd post it up here. I get the whole "forum troll" bit and I appreciate your effort. But... I'm off to my final job of the day, farewell.
Maybe they enjoy the chance for peace and quiet? I know I do. I'm usually in class for about 20 minutes before it starts, and I just sit there enjoying the quiet. If I have a Words with Friends game going on, I will play that, but obviously only if it's my move. If someone I know is by me, we'll exchange a few words, but usually it's a given that everyone just wants to relax for a few minutes.
If the concept of enjoying peace and quiet is odd to you: I work from home. I have 3 animals (2 yappy little dogs, and 1 cat that likes to make a mess). So my entire day is spent listening to them bark at everything while I try to talk to customers on the phone, or the cat screaming when the puppy decides to start eating her. Or any of the three trying to jump on my lap/desk/keyboard at any given point, or jumping on the sliding screen door to go outside.
Then I have to rush off instantly to school. If I leave even 5 minutes later than usual I get stuck behind 2 trains and will be 15 minutes late for class. Then of course it's the 3 hours of class. By the time I get home it's near 10pm (10:30 on Mondays). Back to the animals. I also want to spend time with my fiance, who is a full time Masters student. But I need to sleep since my day starts fairly early - I'm not a teenager, so I can't be up all night every night aymore.
That's not accounting for the homework and studying that needs to be done at some point. Or the house work, yard work, or putting my car back together work.
I can't even imagine parents of young/new children.
So before you go around assuming all those people are dicks for not wanting to talk to you/each other, you should realize that the 20 minutes they are just sitting there just might be the only 20 minutes that they actually are able to "just" sit and be quiet.

A surprisingly valid point, I didn't think my perspective would be changed but you've done it. I suppose I understand that, even though it's still a little odd to go an hour with so many people in the class and no talking. It's not that they aren't talking to me specifically, it's that there simply is no talking at all that makes me a little on end. Though I must say, I have talked with these people, a lot of the younger ones go to school 12 hours a week and have no job, yet still no talking. There are however a lot of people working full time and going to school so I get why they don't talk.
Yeah, the dumb kids that have no job and go to school full or part time not talking at all is odd. Usually those are the ones I want to stab in the face because they will scream the stupidest stuff across the room with absolutely no regard for anyone else. Luckily, the only freshman/teenage level class I'm in is TX government (don't ever move to 4 different state schools), so I only have to deal with those kids one night a week. The rest of my classes are all mid-20s and later, like me, so you can read the "I need quiet" on all of our faces. Besides the brief "Hey, what's up" conversation before class, breaks and after class is when we will all start the chit-chat.

I just started myself, this is my third semester. (The first two semesters weren't full time) I've seen a few Miatas at my school (TCC) but all of them look really... really... ricey. I saw one with giant rims and spinners the other day....
Anyways , good luck with school! (seriously wild tangent, I'm just trying to procrastinate doing this 5 page essay)
Thanks, good luck in school for you too.
Sounds like you see more Miatas than I do at UNT. You're at a community college. Nothing against community colleges, but most people that go to them are kids, much like yourself. So they think all that ricer crap is hawt y0. Or they bought what they could afford knowing it will get trashed at school. Most community colleges I am familiar with don't have anything above an Associate's, so most of the older people that already have some college education don't go to them. There will obviously be exceptions.
I hope to receive a scholarship of some sort to transfer to a university. If not there's always loans to get! Anyways, I'm off to school.
I don't talk much before my classes but thats because for 95%, or more, of the Grad students in my classes English is not their first language.
If you're addicted to cold turkey how do you stop?
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
There's grants for anything and everything. Well, maybe not for Texas from what I'm hearing. My first two years of college once I started taking it seriously were covered by grants. Tuition, books, other various school fees, and a bit extra for living expenses. Find where to look for them, learn how to write a good letter, and profit (literally). If you're not a white boy from a decently well-off family, there's even more out there for you (again, Texas might be different).
And starting at community college is a great idea, just FYI. Make sure that everything you take will transfer properly to whatever university you want to switch too - that bites people in the ass more often than you'd think.
Either way, I'll let you go back to trolling the forum.

More or less. I'm a young white male, never was able to claim myself as a dependent of my parents for school purposes, no kids, no active-duty military service. Like I said, my first two years were covered. But back then I was a bio/chem major trying to get into dental school in NY, while currently (at the time) working in the dental field. So there were medical grants out the wazoo if you could even remotely sell yourself.
Now I don't qualify for crap since I "make too much," no longer in the medical field, and am not an affirmative action type case. The best I can hope for is tuition reimbursement, forgiveness, or lucking out and finding someone that just so happens wants to pay for my education.

I have hopes that if I maintain a high GPA something will come to me. I do have my eyes and ears open for all possible grants and any help I can get. Would be nice to find someone just paying full tuition for kids, in a dream world anyways. And I don't think I troll the forum, I try to just chat and people don't seem to like that.
You hop around career paths too, I find it very difficult to choose what I want to do. It seems like one of the hardest questions I'll ever have to face. I'm hoping that that, too, will just come to me with time.
