    Default Roll bar RFC

I need to purchase and install a roll bar before Hallett.
    1990 NA, no hard top.

As I understand it, I need the M1 hardcore. And I like the double diagonal look.
So, the real question is which one to get. I assume both versions of the M1 have all the stuff for a harness once I put race seats in... someday.

    - The hardtop model will fit a hardtop if I ever get one, and it sits further back and provides full seat travel. More comfy?

    - The soft top model is higher and a bit more forward. So, better for a tall person ( I am 6'0" ). And I guess saferur(tm).

    Comments?

    Thanks,
    James.

I would get the hard top version unless you're 100% dead sure that you will NEVER get a hard top. If you think you'll never get a hard top, then you're wrong So get the hard top version.

The soft top version is taller and sits farther forward. This means the cross bar is closer to your head. You do not want to bang your head on it (helmet or no) if you are in an accident.

I'd look at the Sport...sits further back and gives you a bit more head clearance. Double diags look cool, but will limit your rearward vision.

Don't forget to add harness tabs to whatever you get.

    PS
Does one have to have a roll-bar for Hallett?

All of the COOL kids have the M2 hard dog hard core double diagonal rollbar. The super ellite (like myself) also have the rollbar pad with genuine leather pad cover. I think my rollbar is worth more than the car!!

I don't think it is required, but I will feel better with it.

Your safer driving Hallett without one, than driving up there with one.
BTW, Okies are the worst drivers.

Apparently I'm in the elite class!! You're welcome to take a look and sit in my car if you want to check it out. It's an NB vs NA like yours but should be close enough. If you want we can even swap out drivers seats to give you a better feel for it.

If you are running R comp tires, yes. If you are running street tires, no.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

So, been looking at this a bit. What is the difference between the M1 and the M2?

I think the M1 uses a harness bar, where the M2 uses harness tabs.

Ok, that is a great start.
So, would the harness tabs be better than the harness bar? Maybe lighter? Better look?

Too bad Bethania Garage Inc. & Hard Dog Fabrication doesn't have phones or some sort of an electronic mail interface where you could call or contact them directly and get your answer...

That would be sweet if the did!
