I call BS on the dealer

Service department says my CEL was EFE - Early Fuel Evaporation meaning an untightened gas cap. I say that is BS because the light has been on for 5 days and I fueled the car yesterday and the cap was tight when I opened the fuel lid. The service tech did notice a smell of gas when he started working on the car but there was no other code in the computer.

1) Did you have the code checked at Autozone before taking it to the dealer so you could confirm this?

2) Wasn't there some sort of TSB around the fuel filler on NBs?

did he charge you for labor? Dealers love the electrical warranty stuff...if they can charge 3 hours of inspection a few times a month, that covers a few people's pay for that day (boardwalk audi). If they didn't charge you labor, I bet that is thier honest opinion.

It can hold that code for a while after you tighten the cap...if that is the issue.

http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_cod...cted-large.php is what the dealer got. Because I had knee surgery on Tuesday (thanks for asking) and it now feels horrible and looks like a swollen grapefruit I was unable to get the car to Vatozone before I took it to the stealer.

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:

Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

They did a leak test and no indications noticed. I am going to replace the cap and watch it from there. The tech said the smell of gas could have been left over in the cat from the bad 02 sensor last month.

I told the guy behind the counter that my whole exhaust from engine to the bumper was aftermarket and that I needed some gaskets this size. I then showed him the used gasket I just took out of the car. He insisted on looking up the car in the computer. I couldnt get him to understand why that wouldnt work.
