No, I don't know of any good alternate routes there. Was hoping you guys might since I make that trip several times a year and find 45 extremely boring.

If you're coming from west fort worth or so then the 35W down to 6 through BCS is less boring but takes 60-90 min longer.

I usually take 45N then cut over through Mexia over to 35W when I am going to TMS. The drive through there is nice and beats the hell outta corsicana :)

BTW.....I"m disappointed Neal won't be down in his new ride I'm bumming a ride in Kerry Coughlin's 1.8L :) SO I have POWAAAAAA (as Jeremy clarkson would say). Seelig will be there so it would be fun to see Neal put the car through its paces :)

Like you need another set of wheels in your garage

You could probably ship them FedEx ground and they would arrive overnight. Should be around 10 bucks a wheel or something like that. I'd package them VERY well though.

Man, am I tired! That was hot!

The Houston region put on an excellent event. The only issue was major timing problems on Saturday, but that goes without saying. Otherwise, those guys did a fantastic job. I really liked the cook-out on Saturday with Jim Hedderick at the grill.

As for trophies, I took first in ES, Onething took first in Tire, RPMChris took a well deserved first in CSP, and others from Texas took firsts in ASP, STU, XP, STS, SM, and probably others. Cone-cerned took third in ES, Miatamoto took second or third in BS, and POS Racing took third (I think) in CS. I'm tired and in a little bit of a hurry, so I apologize if I omitted someone.

    Thumbs up

    Stupid Autocross!

I have been to 3 Divisionals this year and every freaking time I end up one spot out of the trophies (2nd, 3rd, 3rd)....

But it was a very good time and other than the AXWare not wanting to play on Saturday the fine folks in Houston did an awesome job (and they gave me a free hat)!

I had a great time. Too much sun, not enough sun block, but still a great time. I did finish 3rd, of three. But, I felt like I was in the hunt. Both courses were fun.

Corner 4 was a great work assignment. We got an up close seat for the people that got lost at the pivot cone at the start of our area. One guy in a blue car thought it was a 270 deg turn. He went the the right of the cone, turn left for 270 deg, then got back on course. On Saturday, one CM driver came to the pivot cone, on the left side as he should, but then turned left, went through two corner worker stations, then out the finish gate........three times. He was going slowly, but still scattered the workers. He only made one full run all day, and that one took a lot of screaming and pointing by the corner workers.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

    Hmm..i guess they're too tall being a 50 series. I've run 40 and 45 series, but never a 50.

so were there ever any results posted from this event, or can I assume that Axware ate them?

Edit: Never mind, I found them. SOWDIV #3 final results.

Hmmm, I wonder if the 285's on the rear of Monica's car slowed her down, or did rpmCHRIS manage to get the correct springs for his coilovers in time for this event? Regardless, CONGRATS to rpmChris!

    OK - a little truth-telling here...

    1. I was running my car with exactly the same equipment we ran a week before at the bus lot (new sways, no coilovers), except for...

    2. I had a ton of bushing preload (binding) on the front suspension at TMS after reinstalling my usual front suspension units, so...

    3. I loosened the front suspension and took out all the binding, bringing it down at least an inch (I thought it looked taller and it was super twitchy at TMS the week before), consequently...

    4. My car hooked up at GGP like never before, even on my 125+ run BFGs. Oh, yeah...

    5. Monica wasn't driving her car - she apparently damaged her engine and it's in the shop; she co-drove with Sherman (buruburu) of Austin in his car, set up exactly like hers but WITH a header & midpipe, except...

    6. His rear fenders weren't rolled enough for Monica's big tires to fit - they ran on Monica's Hoosier 245/45-16 A6 tires on 16x8 RX7 FD wheels.

There - I said it. I feel so much better
