Thread: New addition to the stable

Default New addition to the stable

As some of you may know, there was a recent ad in the classified section offering a '99 Miata for the bargan basement price of $2,100. I was lucky enough to respond first. Despite the efforts of some to snipe it away (very uncool IMO) and big thanks to moderator Dave04 for locking down the thread before more asshattery/ugliness occured, I was able to change my weekend plans and bring her home early. On the plus side, I now have a smaller choice of vendors to narrow down my suspension purchase

The seller "Grandpa Mark" was/is a true gentelman and major class act. He realized he priced it too low, but stood by his word. He was only looking to recoup his investment in the past year (many new parts) The vehicle was as advertized and more. I spent the day giving her a good bath, and then tossed on some old wheels and tires that were laying around the garage.

I amost died when Granpa Mark mentioned that he never took her over 5k rpms. That has been corrected starting today.

I had no intentions of posting pics, but since David04 asked me to when he locked down the fs ad, well..here they are, if anyone is interested http://www.flickr.com/photos/sixace/...7628990165977/

There are no interior shots. Imagine a perfect interior, with normal bolster wear on drivers seat, and there ya go.

Thank you Granpa Mark. I'll be calling you for that autocross ridealong. She's in good hands.

Nice car, props to Granpa Mark.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

What's happening to that old, white 1.6? I'm looking for a dirt dirt dirt cheap roller for my VVT/6-speed/3.63/MS2++ swap.

^Since you actually provide some value to the forum, you can stick around a bit longer.

Great deal! I'd have jumped on it too.

Betcha it needs brake pads. Fluid look really low and dirty.

Not for sale. You need to buy a van and trailer first anyways..

Right now its kinda nice driving top down on a soft suspension with a great stereo. Been a long time! Man, I must be getting old. Thoughts of wine and are creepin in..

New, full, "lifetime" warranty pads that I'm guessing would not last a session at Hallett. Brake fluid was not really too bad, but the clutch fluid was really dirty, which is strange given the obvious new master and slave

Nice. Must have been garaged a lot, the headlights don't even look foggy. Enjoy

Were you driving that on 35E yesterday? I saw a white NB1 yesterday, I hardly ever see white...
